Eicosapentaenoic acid ethyl ester (EPA ethyl ester) is an orally active ω-3 fatty acid agent. It improves liver β-oxidase activity in vitro, reduces liver total triglyceride, and increases liver triglyceride, phospholipid ω-3 fatty acid, and total ω-3 fatty acid levels in rats. It is for research use only.
- Orally active ω-3 fatty acid agent
- Inhibits decrease of thyroid hormone levels and changes in thyroid follicles induced by 1-methyl-2-imidazole thiol (MMI) in hypothyroid rats
- Reverses increased plasma cholesterol and decreased circulating triglyceride levels in high-fat diet rats
- Related to several antibodies and small molecules
- Supported by published research
